magnetsOk, so there were only supposed to be two parts to this article, but attraction marketing covers such a lot that I really needed to at least cover ‘self branding’ in this context, and in a bit more detail than that in one of my previous articles.

The concept of ‘Self Branding’ should be pretty self explanatory, but there are a number of areas that people seem to neglect. Now there are the obvious things like blogging, creating a Facebook profile so that your prospects can come and ‘meet’ you, and of course video is a very good one too.

However, I am shocked at the number of times I see either banner ads or emails that are exactly the same as several others I have received that day. Firstly, these emails were in my spam folder so obviously weren’t written very well, but secondly, and more importantly, there was no differentiation from the prospect’s point of view between any of them! This is usually the first contact that a prospect will have with you as a potential sponsor, and if you’re copying verbatim, then what do you think your downline is going to do? This is, of course, assuming that the email wasn’t just deleted as the spam it was and no contact ever made.

Whilst I’m all for not reinventing the wheel, I believe this should only go as far as the system you use. If someone else has gone to the trouble and pain of developing a system (often through a lot of trial an error) that will make your business successful, then yes you should use it. However, I have been told on many occasions that if I duplicated everything I would succeed, and I’ve not found this to be the case.

‘Familiarity breeds contempt,’ or so the saying goes. If you’re copying everything that your upline sponsor is doing, how are you going to stand out from everyone else who is also copying your upline? The funny thing was, that had one of those emails even had a difference subject line, it might have made a difference.

Personally, anything that’s provided to you, I would rewrite in your own words. It becomes part of who you are when it’s written in your own words, and that’s all part of ‘self branding’ and attracting people towards you. On some level, if what is written doesn’t sound like you, you won’t come across as genuine. Additionally, for the same reason that teachers encourage students to take notes, you should rewrite and produce content everytime you learn something. The process of taking notes actually cements the information as part of the learning process, rather than being a reference for later on. It’s the same reason that students are then encouraged to take more notes when they revise!

Here’s to self branding and attracting lots of successful like minded people to you and your business opportunity.
