An online business always sounds very attractive. After all, we all know of lots of stories of people who have made their fortune through the Internet. Trouble is, there are many, many more who have lost money, or at least spent more than they’ve made with various online businesses.
The problem that I have with most of these schemes (or scams as most people would refer to them as) is that they make very outlandish claims of great wealth with no or little effort that seem too good to be true. Whenever I come across something like this, a little voice in the back of my head reminds me that ‘if it’s too good to be true, then it probably is’ and reluctantly look over the details with an air of skepticism. I have also yet to come across a business opportunity that worked where very little effort was required!
In my experience, skepticism has been good for me; it has stopped me getting involved with many a scheme that turned out to be just a scam that would have you emptying your pockets in the hope of earning promised wealth to only end up a lot poorer that when you started. Therefore, I have been very selective with any business opportunities that I’ve come across and even then, I have ended up out of pocket.
Network marketing or MLM as a home business has long been something that appealed to me, as the basis of how the business was structured seemed to make good sense and the success of companies like Tupperware, Avon & Amway seemed to confirm that. I liked the idea of being able to build a residual income in addition to any direct effort that I make. I didn’t like having to sell to friends and family and pushing various detergent products such as with Amyway; my lack of enthusiasm definitely came across and I ended up quitting, but always looking for something better, that suited me as a person.
Making money while the business owner isn’t there, after all, is the basis of any business that grows beyond that of a sole-trader to the point where staff are employed; one person can only do so much, but employ people to work for you and you create a machine that under your guidance will continue to make money, even in your absence. Success from there, could, if you’re one of the less-than 5% who are successful, bring you wealth and financial freedom. However, as most wannabe entrepreneurs find, achieving this can require a lot of effort over a long time and often a lot of financial investment, with no real guarantees of success.
So, although setting up an online business has always seemed like the answer to me, I haven’t managed to find the right one yet!
Setting up the website and either ordering stock or becoming an affiliate wasn’t even the start; without being able to effectively market my business, I had no business. What I needed was a marketing system that worked, and more importantly that I could understand and use without having to be some internet marketing guru.
It’s pretty obvious to me that without effective marketing, you have nothing. In fact, there are many examples of better products failing to take hold in the marketplace whilst ‘inferior’ products with much better marketing sell like hot cakes!
A system that literally hand-holds you through everything sounds like nothing else I’ve ever come across, and what I’ve come across has got me really excited, especially when I start to see it working…
