If you’re the sort of person who is ambitious, then you’ve probably experienced the same responses that I have when articulating your dreams and goals. For me, the responses have ranged from a stifled smirk to the outright put down. Even my Mother’s responses would at best included a sarcastic ‘oh yeah’ in ironic agreement.

What I soon learned was that my dreams and goals are precious and should be protected. I made the decision to articulate them only to myself, to remind myself of what I am working for and how I am going to get there. To share them with others who did not share my mindset was like taking a precious gemstone and exposing it to the element. Dreams should be protected from the harsh elements of the society that we live in.

Success doesn’t come by chance. It doesn’t come because someone got lucky. If you’re successful right now, and I mean TRULY successful, then you will remember when you DECIDED to strive for the success that you now enjoy. It doesn’t happen by accident.

In business, losing sight of your goals and dreams is more of a sure fire route to failure than anything else. How many successful companies do you know that don’t have a mission statement?

I posted a poem some weeks back called ‘Whatever It Takes’ which really does sum up how dedicated you should be to your decision. You decision should be final, and your goals should be a solid as rock. Stop at nothing to achieve your goals and you will get there. Quitters never win, and winners NEVER QUIT!
