Online Business Success Through Mindset | Day 1

So, what is all this talk about ‘mindset’, and what has it got to do with you and your business?

I think that the problem that a lot of people have with the whole concept of a ‘mindset’ is that to a lot of entrepreneurs they don’t make the connection to their own personal business success. A mindset seems to a lot of people to be something that isn’t tangible and for some can be difficult to grasp when it is first discovered.

Place this in the context of all the crap that is around on the Internet right now, and it’s easy to see why many people dismiss the whole concept of ‘mindset’ or at best don’t see its importance.

So how about I break this down into basic tangible topics that everyone can understand?

I think many people are familiar with the phrase ‘glass half-empty’ or ‘glass half-full’, when referring to how a person looks at life. There are many degrees in between, but if we were to simplify the whole human race into either negative or positive people, you would find that positive people would describe a half-filled glass of water as ‘half-full’, whereas negative people would describe it as ‘half-empty’; two polar opposite views of exactly the same thing.

You with me so far? At a very basic level, this is the sort of thing that we are referring to when talking about ‘mindset’. However, it goes much deeper than that, it’s not just about whether you have a positive or negative outlook on life. Your experiences, mixed with your own personal viewpoint of those experiences, your family, friends and anyone else that you associate with will have an influence on the way that you think as a person. How you think as a person, will determine the decisions that you take in life and as a consequence the path that your life takes. If you accept this, then you have to accept that the same is also true in business.

Why is it that some people always seem to be really ‘unlucky’, whereas others always seem to get all the ‘luck’?

Have you ever come across a negative or depressing ‘lucky’ person, or vice versa? Now, some people might argue that people are that way because of what happens to them, but in fact the reverse is true. People get more of what they focus on, and is something that sports men and women have long known, and that business people are just starting to catch on to.

However, having the right mindset so that your thoughts and actions, particularly your subconscious thoughts drive you towards success is easier said than done. Unless you’re one of the few people in the world born with this kind of mindset, then it is something that will need to be worked upon.

Remember I said earlier that mindset goes a lot deeper than just positive thinking?

When I say it ‘goes deeper’, I’m referring to the power of your subconscious mind. Doctors have long recognised the power that the subconscious has over everything we do, which is why hypnotherapy works for such things as helping patients deal with fears and phobias that have no basis in the reality of the situation. The subconscious mind is not logical and will direct your thought patterns and reasoning which is ultimately behind how you make the decisions that affect everything in your life. Therefore, whilst having a ‘positive mental attitude’ is to be applauded, it isn’t enough if you unknowingly have mental ‘programs’ in your subconscious that conflict with this.

Fortunately, we as humans even have the power to ‘reprogram’ our own subconscious minds to allow us to achieve our goals, but this takes diligence and persistence and an understanding of how the subconscious works so that you can achieve this.

‘Think And Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill is the first of many personal development books to teach you how you can take control of your own thoughts, even at a subconscious level to achieve business success, and is a book that I regularly read over and over again. It completely changed my life and I guarantee will change yours if you apply the principles wholeheartedly and diligently…

If you were to ask me which book I would recommend above all others, it would have to be this one. It’s a fair assumption to make that there would not have been any ‘personal development’ books for quite some time (quite how long is anybody’s guess) unless this book had been published in 1937 after 25 years of research.

This book is a complete ‘game changer’ and has to be the one thing that I attribute the success I have enjoyed thus far as an entrepreneur. Knowing what I was like before reading this book, I can confidently say that I would probably not have achieved what I have, and can only wish I had discovered it beforehand…

If you’d prefer the actual book…
